Position: Telecommunications Specialist, GS-0391-12 Salary: $74,872 - $97,333 Annual Place of Work: NETCOM/9th Army Signal Command, 302nd Signal Battalion, Company A, Fort Detrick, MD
Position Status: This is a Permanent position. -- Full Time Number of Vacancy: 4
Duties: Serves as the Company Communications Watch Officer responsible to the Commander, 298th Signal Company, for the total continuity of communications services and operational capabilities involving communications, facilities and personnel supporting the Company. Serves as Alternate Node site coordinator, alternate circuit activations coordinator. Responsible for performing the duties associated with a Primary Technical Control Facility, and a Defense Communications Satellite Facility. You will ensure the continuous movement of voice and data communications from one location to another, via such major communications networks as the Defense Satellite Communications System, Defense Information System Network, Defense and commercial cable facilities that support White House Communications Agency, National Security Agency, National Airborne Operations Center, National Security Agency National Guard Bureau, State Department and worldwide Defense Information System Agency facilities.
About the Position: The 302d Signal Battalion assists our nation by providing and protecting critical Battle Command and Intelligence system support for the President, Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Warfighting Combatant Commanders, the Services, and other Federal Agency

Specialized Experience: This position requires one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 in federal service which requires a technical knowledge of the operational and performance characteristics of assigned telecommunications equipment and transmission media, and the relationships of components to the complete telecommunications systems employed. The work also requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of telecommunication concepts, principles, practices, procedures and operational requirements as well as a working knowledge of worldwide communication systems, (i.e., Defense Information System Network (DISN), and Defense Satellite Communications Systems (DSCS) and the ability to resolve problems identified with these systems.
GS-12 and above: One year of experience directly related to the occupation and equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. There is no substitution of education for experience at this level. * The experience described in your resume will be evaluated and screened for the Office of Personnel Managements basic qualifications requirements, and the skills needed to perform the duties of this position as described in this vacancy announcement. * Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the Time in Grade Restriction. * One year of experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. * Must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade (or equivalent).
