Senior Manager, Engineering - Walmart International Company: Wal-Mart
General Summary:
As the Senior Manager for WalMart International Global eCommerce division, youâ??ll have the opportunity to help define and implement components for WalMartâ??s next-generation, global e-Commerce Platform. This hands-on position, reporting to the Senior Director WalMart and will be responsible for design and implementation of front end application system components in a massively scalable, high performance, multi-tenant, international eCommerce platform in a Java EE and Oracle environment, working together with the Architects, Engineering Managers, Business and Product management teams. The position will serve as the technical lead for the distributed development teams working on this global platform. As a Senior Manager, you will lead front end design through deploy of an online retail eCommerce platform. Responsibilities include localization to various WalMart tenant locales and Integrations to tenant specific UI, 3rd party systems, Content Management Systems and eCommerce back-ends.
Responsibilities:
â?¢ Serve as a technical lead for architecture, design and interface decisions related to Wal-Martâ??s next-generation, global Web platform; lead a team to define, design, develop and deploy phases of the global platform to various tenants and locales
â?¢ Lead and work with Vendors / System Integrators to manage scope, time to market, adherence to best practices
â?¢ Assess, recommend, build and integrate with best-of-breed, off-the-shelf commercial and open-source software components
â?¢ To meet business needs, review and recommend technologies from both global software providers, open source as well as in-country specialized products, for inclusion into the platform
â?¢ Work with key members of the management team to define and drive technical strategy and architectural direction for the eCommerce platform
â?¢ Review and provide guidance to Wal-Martâ??s eCommerce initiatives in various countries
â?¢ Drive the design methodology of the software development process and ensure adoption within Wal-Mart technology partners
â?¢ Assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements. Design appropriate solutions and recommend alternative approaches when necessary
â?¢ Stay abreast of advancements in Web technologies in order to determine relevance and possible impact to existing system
â?¢ Recommend engineering best practices, including use of design patterns, code reviews and automated unit testing
â?¢ Work with business users, product managers, QA, Release and UI and Platform Engineering teams to develop high volume high transaction applications.
Qualifications:
B.S. in computer science or equivalent (M.S. preferred)
â?¢ 10+ years in software engineering
â?¢ 5+ years of experience programming in Java and Front-End technologies
â?¢ 4+ years in design and development of E-Commerce Applications
â?¢ Experience with managing vendors / system integrators
