User Experience Research Intern
Panasonic currently has an opening for a User Experience Research Intern Position at our Panasonic Silicon Valley Laboratory (PSVL) of Panasonic R&D Company of America located in Cupertino, CA.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to new business innovation at the rapid prototyping/proof of concept phase. At PSVL, you will work with a small, cross functional team representing software, hardware, design, business and user research expertise. Your focus will be on helping to design and test a new product/service; you will have primary responsibility for being the "human interface" for usability testing and user requirements development. You will also have a chance to help the dev team in the feature design and rapid prototyping iterations, and to ensure that the user requirements are understood and respected in the design vision.
This is a paid internship position at a competitive hourly wage. Local applicants only (must be able to work onsite in Cupertino on a reliable schedule (daily availability strongly preferred)). Prefer 20+ hrs/week to start.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct usability testing, user observation, and collect user feedback for a new product/service in the early prototyping phases * Provide hands-on help with the implementation of a proof of concept prototype * Design and implement surveys and other measurement tools for collecting user responses to prototype implementation(s) * Collaborate with team members to develop user requirements and assist in feature/function development * Collaborate with team members to design product/service features or modifications responding to usability testing results * Assist in creating project deliverables and presentations, detailing proposed solutions through flowcharts, wireframes, sitemaps, navigational summaries and prototypes * Work with developers and other team members to feed user needs and requirements into the solution development * Write guides * Research benchmarks
Qualifications
- Working toward a degree in a field related to user experience research- e.g., psychology, human-computer interaction, computer science. Masters or PhD-level student preferred. Recent grad ok * Excellent analytical, organizational, collaborative skills * Excellent interpersonal communication skills * Practical experience in design and administration of applied user research methods including interviews, questionnaires, unobtrusive observation/shadowing and related techniques. * Programming skills a plus * Ability to contribute in a team environment; able to receive feedback and work designs relativity * Interest or experience in cycling a plus
